INTERNET HYPE # 10YEARCHALLENGE | It's amazing how THEY have changed!

The “# 10YearChallenge” or the “2009 vs. 2019 Challenge” is a new internet phenomenon on Instagram, Facebook, Twitter & Co. In the social networks, people post two pictures of themselves: one of 2009 and one of today. The whole thing was born as an idea that people show how they have aged or have changed - for younger people probably more how it changed puberty. The photo hype is becoming more popular every day - now many transgender people are also showing their pictures.

For many THAT are probably the biggest changes: People who have adjusted their appearance to their perceived gender. Many transgender people proudly show on the internet how they have changed over the past ten years. Rightly so! Because a transition (this is the technical term when a person can be adjusted to their actual identity) is probably the most important step in their life. While a few trans people said they were uncomfortable sharing photos of themselves, a large majority enthusiastically joined the photo hype.

Many of the pictures are also posted with the hashtag "#HowHardDidPubertyHitYou" - a trans man writes: "It hit me twice, but the first time was really crazy."

And then another person on Twitter reminds us that while some transgender people have gone through some really radical changes in their looks, there are still a great many of them who are just not (yet) true - and that too is totally in Order.
