Many young people think that once they come of age their personal development is complete, they think they already know everything, but as they get older and have more life experience, they realize that they were quite clueless in their youth.

Personal development // Tip no. 1: Get up earlier in the morning
This gives you more time in the morning to do a few important things in peace.
You will feel less rushed and you will start the day more positively.
You can also use the time to work on a personal project that is close to your heart, such as writing a short story for a literature competition or a business plan for your business idea.
Or maybe you don't want to do anything special, but just start the day by sitting outside in the garden with a cup of tea or coffee and preparing yourself mentally for your working day.
Tip # 2: clear out your apartment
Over the years you have probably built up a lot of stuff that you no longer need.
However, managing this stuff costs you valuable living space, energy, and attention that you could invest in more valuable things, such as your personal development.
Separate yourself from useless junk that has become a burden and experience more freedom and ease by only allowing things in your life that are useful to you, that you find beautiful and that make you happy.
A nice side effect is that it is much easier to keep a cleared home clean and tidy than one that is cluttered with useless items.

Chaotic finances can ruin your life completely.
Start living below your means and saving instead of living above your means and constantly spending money.
If you do not consume continuously, your life will become less complicated and you will have more time to take care of your personal development.
Start assigning higher value to experiences and relationships than material things and you will see that over time you will grow from a superficial consumer victim to a more mindful, more profound person.
Tip # 4: start a fitness routine
Are you a couch potato and already start panting when you have to walk to the second floor even though you are still young?
Is your body so immobile that you have difficulty bending down and tying your shoelaces?
Then it's time to train your strength, endurance and flexibility.

Writing in a journal can be a friend that you find in yourself.
Sometimes you may find it difficult to reach out to friends or family with your problems because you don't want to be labeled needy or difficult.
Writing a diary allows you to leave out whatever worries you and become your best friend.

Do you sometimes tell yourself that you are too weak, too stupid, too ugly, too uneducated, too young, too old, too small, tall, fat or thin, too scared, too introverted to achieve anything in particular?
Write down all of these thoughts and analyze them for their truthfulness.
Often it is lies that we sabotage ourselves with and that keep us from reaching our full potential.
Look at all areas of your life and replace these limiting beliefs with positive truths.
This way you will no longer be hindered in your personal development.
Tip # 8: Find a new hobby
Expand your inner boundaries by doing something completely new.
Learn a foreign language, a musical instrument or a new sport.
As you step out of your comfort zone, you will become more confident and independent.
You realize that you are capable of more than you previously suspected.

Regardless of whether you are doing a social year, are involved in a club or another organization whose purpose you can identify with, you will gain valuable experience during this time and get to know yourself from a completely new perspective.

Tip # 10: Read a book that you would normally ignore
A book from a genre that you would normally not be interested in can make a significant contribution to your personal development.
The next time you go to the library, take a look at the literature that is particularly recommended and choose a book that you would not have touched before.

Whether you are writing fiction or a non-fiction book, writing is a wonderful form of self-expression.

“No.” is a complete sentence, by the way.
Once you've learned to reject other people's wishes, you will have more time and energy to devote to yourself.
If someone asks you a favor and you don't have time to do it, you have the right to say no.
If someone asks you if you'd like to go out in the evening, but you're just exhausted and would rather sleep, you can say no.
Your health and wellbeing should be your top priority.
If you keep saying yes when you really want to say no, you are putting your well-being at risk and signaling to others that they can easily take advantage of you.
Personal development // Tip No. 13: Spend less time on unimportant things
How much time do you waste every day?
Do you spend hours watching TV, playing PC games or surfing the internet aimlessly?
The problem is, you never get that time back.
If you lose money you can get it back, but time is the most valuable resource of all, once it's gone it was, there is no way to turn back the clock.
Successful people spend their time working on their goals, which is why they are so successful.
So focus on your priorities and think about how you can best use your time.
Tip # 14: Be a doer
Testing is above studying.
Don't let laziness, bitterness, or fear keep you from acting.
Live not only in theory, but also in practice.
It is of no use to anyone if you do not turn your ideas and dreams into reality.
Personal development // Tip no.15: Write a letter to your parents
If you come from a good family where you were supported and encouraged to the best of your ability, then thank your parents in writing for everything they have done for you.
Thank them for their loving sacrifice and for everything that they have given up in order to be there for you and to be able to take care of you appropriately.
Tip # 16: If you're unhappy at your job, do something about it
Update your application documents and start applying for new positions.
Or learn a new skill that you can use to work in another professional field in the future, for example a foreign language or programming.
Contact your network and ask around if anyone knows of an open position that suits you.
Visit events such as trade fairs and congresses in your industry and make new contacts in this way.

If you make yourself available as a mentor or teacher, you can pass on your knowledge to others and positively influence their personal development.
