The German forum system WoltLab is advertised by its developers as the “engine of successful communities”. That is a special feature integrated CMS. The software is currently in its 3rd version and with responsive templates, individual design options and a search engine-friendly website structure, it offers everything for contemporary forum operations.

Basis is one modular software architecture. While the core of the proprietary WoltLab Suite is available free of charge, all other components such as the forum, a gallery, calendar functions, file management and the blog area can be purchased as separate apps if required. As with vBulletin, forum operators who want to use the software without branding have to accept a significant surcharge.

On request, forum operators can connect WoltLab to social networks such as Facebook, Twitter or Google Plus and thus enable users to log in via a corresponding social media profile. In addition, the forum software offers interfaces that can be used to conveniently distribute content via Reddit, Pinterest or WhatsApp.

WoltLab GmbH provides one on its website official plug-in store available where users can purchase extensions, styles and developer tools. The resources are both official extensions and third-party software.

The forum software WoltLab Suite, written in PHP, requires the DBMS MySQL or the MySQL fork MariaDB. An installation service can be booked when purchasing the software license. A cloud version of the forum software is not available.
